Maria Kentrota was born in Piraeus in 1972. In 1991, she excelled by taking first place in the entrance exams at the Athens School of Fine Arts.
She has taught in primary, secondary, and further education (Institute of Vocational Training), public and private education (2nd Institute of Vocational Training Patras, 2nd TEE Peramas, TEE & Institute of Vocational Training Omega Athens, P. Faliro Xenopoulou School, M. Lampiri Moschato Private Schools), as well as in the Municipal Enterprise of Culture Development of Rio in Patras.
Ιn 2003, she was appointed as Teaching Staff at the Department of Educational Sciences and Early Childhood Education at the University of Patras. Her core teaching subject is "Teaching of Visual Arts".
Studies
She studied painting during 1991-1997 at the Laboratory of Professor D. Kokkinidis. Alongside her studies in painting, she studied Hagiography in the Laboratory of Professor K. Xynopoulos and Mosaic in the Laboratory of Professor G. Valavanidis. In addition, she studied Pedagogy and Psychology of Education with Professor A. Danassi and History of Art with Professor M.L. Plakas.
In the period 1997 – 1999, she attended the Sculpture course at the Athens School of Fine Arts, at the Workshop of Professor Th. Panouria and in 2002 she continued her studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts to obtain a second degree in the Department of Engraving at the Workshop of Professor V. Kazakou. Along with her studies in engraving, she attended the course Didactics in Art with Professor TS Doukoumetzidou and Scenography in the Laboratory of Professor G. Ziakas.
