Course : (ΣΠΠ215) Contemporary Perspectives on Early Childhood Education (MA)
Curriculum : The course is designed to encourage students to reflect on the role of the sociocultural context in children's learning and in the formation of their ideas. Students will also be expected to critically analyse different pedagogical strategies and techniques that support participation and highlight children's ability to communicate their views and guide their own learning. Understanding and recognising the various factors that influence the shaping of each child's characteristics and individualities (such interests and preferences, ways of expressing and communicating, meaning-making ) play a particularly important role in the process of learning and teaching, while methodologically enriching research that amplifies children's 'voices'.

Outline : More specifically, the following modules are included • Sociocultural perspective and children's learning • Differentiated Instruction • Authentic Assessment • Collaboration between families and educators • Communicating and Thinking through drawing activity • Play and playful learning • Teacher-initiated play and curriculum • Exploration and experimentation in early years
