Course : (ΘΔΒ313) Specific Topics in Biology Didactics (MA)
Curriculum : The course aims at providing students with the necessary theoretical and methodological tools for carrying out “Biology Didactics”, i.e. biology education research. Moreover, the course aims at providing students with the opportunity to examine biology teaching in the light of contemporary trends like biological education for public understanding and citizenship.
Outline : Τhe course is concerned with the following topics: “Biology Education Research & its methods”; “Biology Education Research & students’ conceptual understanding”; “Biology Education Research & students’ reasoning”; “Biology Education Research & teaching-learning models”. The course includes lectures with presentation and discussion of the topics, individual- or group-work with the aid of worksheets, students’ presentations of papers published in international journals of the domain, as well as written essays. International students can be tutored in English and assessed with essays produced during the semester and at the end of it.
