Description :

Course objectives: The students that will enrol the experiential course will be able to:
• acquire the necessary theoretical foundations and practical experiences for the effective animation of theatrical pedagogical practices,
• showcase and enhance their personal potential for the role of animator,
• approach various social, cultural, ethical, scientific, or other current issues utilising the tools of Theater in Education in order to intervene and transform them in a creative and innovative way,
• design, implement, and evaluate theatrical pedagogical programmes in formal and non formal education.

Course content:
• Theatrical pedagogical practices and interdisciplinary approaches
• Theatrical pedagogical practices as a means of expression, communication, aesthetic cultivation, social awareness, and alternative approach to knowledge in education
• Team-building techniques
• Role-playing games and improvisation
• Theatrical play: stages of structural construction, as well as means and techniques of its development
• Object theatre: creating and animating a puppet, creating and using a mask, shadow theatre
• Selection / composition of a theatrical text
• Creation of an environment of theatrical action
• Creation of performances
• Monitoring, analysis, and critical evaluation of performances
• The teacher as an animator
• Design of theatrical pedagogical programmess for school (formal) education and (non formal) education in the community: subject research, activities, material, recording, production, presentation, and programme evaluation

Teaching method: The lesson is experiential and takes place in the day care centre of the University (music and movement room).
• Theatrical pedagogical exercises/activities with the participation of students
• Lectures
• Workshop exercises (in groups)
• Assignment writing (individually, in groups)
• Artistic creations (individually, in groups)
• Video presentations
• Use of educational tools and materials
• Study of bibliography, webography
• Presentation of performances
• Attending events/ performances
• Analysis, discussion

Prerequisites: Regular attendance to the course and active participation are considered necessary. There is an attendance limit.

Evaluation: The course is based on formative assessment during the semester and the final grade results from:
• Short individual and group assignments prepared during the semester (20%).
• Theatrical pedagogical performances inspired by the semester’s themes and based on a special educational goal. Presentation of performances to institutions (30%).
• Final written exams (50%).
